More than 100 manufacturers and importers in the stationery sector brought together thousands of industry representatives at sales events held in Antalya in January. These sales events, which have become a tradition in the sector, took place this year in Antalya at 17 hotels, with the participation of over 100 companies. At the first event of the new year, where new products were introduced and projections for 2024 were outlined, participating manufacturers and importers reported that, despite business volumes falling short of expectations, they were generally satisfied. The January sales events in Antalya, which have become a tradition in the stationery sector, once again brought together thousands of industry representatives this year. Retail and wholesale stationery dealers, who were hosted at various hotels and organized into different groups during the sales activities, also experienced a busy period of activity. During the January 2024 sales activities, purchases related to the New Year were made, business partners discussed their projects and plans for the coming year, orders were placed, new products were enthusiastically introduced, and vibrant events were organized for all stakeholders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Two years ago, during the same period following the pandemic, these sales events held in Antalya generated significant buzz, with visitor numbers far exceeding expectations. Sharp fluctuations in exchange rates, inflationary pressures, and global supply chain issues had left industry representatives deeply concerned, yet a substantial volume of trade was generated. This year, the events once again attracted more visitors than anticipated. In our discussions with representatives from the retail, import, manufacturing, and wholesale sectors, it was conveyed that these concerns persist, with opinions suggesting that placing product orders too early could lead to potential currency fluctuations and issues with product shipments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The general consensus was that the sector\u2019s first event of 2024 was a success. Industry representatives shared the view that these events generated significant trade volume. There was also a widespread belief that while these events saw substantial sales to the domestic market, the Istanbul Stationery and Office Supplies Fair would take on a greater role in international business. The fact that the Istanbul Stationery and Office Fair is held in February, immediately following these events, may underpin these views. In particular, the stationery sector has recently been placing greater emphasis on exports.
